Audio Engineer can model your venue, auditorium or arena in the latest professional acoustic modelling software.

Acoustic modelling falls into two main areas:

  • Modelling for temporary installation (concerts and festivals) Click Here for our system design page.

  • Complex modelling for permanent installation in public spaces or studios

Audio Engineer can advise on acoustic treatments to improve intelligibility, as well as of course choices of speakers and placement. We are also able to consult on sound insulation to ensure your venue complies with licensing conditions.

Whether it is a concert venue, a municipal hall, a sports stadium or a recording studio, modelling and design are essential so you can predict that you will achieve the reverberation necessary for a classical orchestra or the deadening required for a vocal recording booth, the ability for a voice on stage to carry to the highest seats of your theatre, or to meet your licensing needs in a stadium for
EN54 voice alarm.

Audio Engineer are able to provide detailed models of venues or arenas at the design stage, working with architects to ensure a great performing venue is built. The earlier we are involved in a project the better.

Different speaker brands and lines can be modelled with superb accuracy. This is even more essential at the design and specification stage – you can try out different configurations and brands without having to buy them. Detailed acoustic models can show frequency and transient response at any point in the room. Changes in acoustic treatment on the walls can be modelled or we can show you whether or not that acoustic drape you were planning on buying will do what you want or is money thrown away before you buy it!

There is no antidote to a slick salesman like knowing how each proposed system is going to perform in your space before you sign on the dotted line. Do you go with the best marketed, the best known, the one with best free holiday or cheapest one? Only with modelling will you know how each one will really perform in your space.

Whilst this kind of modelling is in itself an investment, it saves you money in the long run. It avoids mistakes such as:

  • Putting in the balcony that “looked cool” then realising that the front of it reflected onto the seats below causing the singer to appear above and behind you as well as on stage.

  • Putting in the wrong PA system, and then having the expenditure of replacing it a year later (sometimes two or three times in venues we will not mention)

  • But above all, it gives you the confidence that the choices you made are the correct ones. You know that you have the best possible outcome.
