On a large installation, you need an independent commissioning and testing company to sign off and certify that your installation meets all licensing requirements.
In addition, every year, you systems must be tested by an independent company and certified working. Every few years, as standards change or as components age, your system may require a comprehensive retest and calibration.
We can help you with this.
Our engineers can test level compliance, STIPA speech intelligibility and witness main and backup circuits. We can also fault find as we go and have a “can do” attitude to making sure that your venue meets the requirements.
Recently we were the commissioning engineers for the new Tottenham Hotspur football stadium on behalf of Eddie Thomas Associates (SSE Audio) where we tested and witnessed around 5000 voice alarm speakers.

To give you an idea of the kind of schedule that you need to maintain to remain EN54 (BS-5839-8:2013) compliant, we have compiled the following:
Daily Checks:
• User checks fault status of system.
Weekly Checks:
• Test each emergency microphone console.
• Test the fire alarm interface (weekly fire test).
• Ensure emergency messages are audible.
• Check ALL loudspeaker zones within a 13 week period.
Quarterly Checks:
• ‘Premises Management’ check fault log entries and take necessary action.
• Visual inspection for deterioration.
• Test fault indicators and operation by creating simulated faults.
• Confirm loudspeaker coverage in all zones.
• Download configuration file and archive.
• Further checks as recommended by manufacturer.
Annual Checks:
• As ‘quarterly’, plus
• Visual inspection confirming all cable and equipment is secure and undamaged.
• Issue certificate of testing.
We can get involved in the quarterly checks, or we can train your inhouse staff to perform them. The annual checks however need to be performed and signed off by an outside professional company, such as Audio Engineer LTD.
